Virtualization is the standard in enterprise IT environments for consolidating servers, enhancing businstrators that reduces their Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and helps speed the application development process. However, as improvements have been made with server technology, storage technoless continuity, and improving business agility. VMware provides an architecture for server adminiogy has become the bottleneck. Legacy storage solutions can’t keep pace with thousands of virtual machines demanding maximum IOPS along with high bandwidth at the lowest latency. Infinidat’s InfiniBox removes the storage bottleneck for VMware environments. The InfiniBox enterprise storage array delivers faster-than-all-flash performance, high availability, and capacity density at petabyte scale. This Infinidat white paper is written for VMware and storage administrators to introduce them to the integration capabilities of the InfiniBox for VMware.

Technology is quickly moving to the forefront as organizations undertake digital and information technology (IT) transformation projects that enable strategic differentiation in a world where users are leveraging applications and data in new ways. The reality is, most organizations were not born digital but instead have legacy business processes, applications, and infrastructure that require modernization and automation. As a result, businesses must embark on IT transformation to modernize and automate their legacy infrastructure and prime themselves to achieve their digital business goals. IDC interviewed organizations of various sizes to understand the impact of moving significant parts of their storage environments to Dell EMC solutions, powered by Intel®. IT Transformation is a concept that resonates with companies even more now than it did 12 months ago. Although not synonymous with digital transformation, the two concepts are fundamentally linked together, as effective digital transformation cannot happen without IT Transformation. A company that transforms its IT infrastructure no longer has to rely on rigid, manual, siloed, legacy technologies. It sees a boost in IT operational speed, efficiency, scale, and cost effectiveness—tasks are automated, processes streamlined, and resources are freed up. Those IT-level improvements fuel a larger-scale digital transformation, allowing the company to thrive in today’s digital economy. It is able to out-innovate, out-think, and out-pace its competitors—ultimately becoming the disruptor, not the disrupted. Download this whitepaper to learn more about how Flash Storage powered by Intel® Xeon® processor fuels IT transformations below

As flash storage has permeated mainstream computing, enterprises are coming to better understand not only its performance benefits but also the secondary economic benefits of flash deployment at scale. This combination of benefits — lower latencies, higher throughput and bandwidth, higher storage densities, much lower energy and floor space consumption, higher CPU utilization, the need for fewer servers and their associated lower software licensing costs, lower administration costs, and higher device-level reliability — has made the use of AFAs an economically compelling choice relative to legacy storage architectures initially developed for use with hard disk drives (HDDs). As growth rates for hybrid flash arrays (HFAs) and HDD-only arrays fall off precipitously, AFAs are experiencing one of the highest growth rates in external storage today — a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 26.2% through 2020.

In today’s application driven, cloud agnostic world, many organizations still rely on legacy, multiple point backup and recovery products that consist of backup software, target storage, media and master servers, and cloud gateways, all from different vendors. With slow backups and long recovery times of their existing backup products, organizations are unable to meet their tight business SLAs. Constant forklift upgrades and complex management UIs make it expensive to manage the current backup and recovery environments. There has to be a simpler, more cost-effective way to keep your data safe. This is the problem that Cohesity is designed to solve, with an entirely new approach to data protection. Download this solution brief to learn more about Cohesity and its advantages!

Managing technology refreshes is not a popular task among enterprise storage administrators, although it is a necessary task for successful businesses. As a business evolves, managing more data and adding new applications in the process, enterprise storage infrastructure inevitably needs to grow in performance and capacity. Enterprise storage solutions have traditionally imposed limitations in terms of their ability to easily accommodate technology refreshes that keep infrastructure current and operating reliably and most cost effectively. In 2015, Pure Storage introduced a new technology refresh model that has driven strong change in the enterprise storage industry by addressing the major pain points of legacy models and provided overall a much more cost-effective life-cycle management approach. In conjunction with other aspects of Pure Storage's enterprise storage product and services offerings, the company's "Evergreen Storage" technology refresh model has contributed to this all-f

Data is growing at amazing rates and will continue this rapid rate of growth. New techniques in data processing and analytics including AI, machine and deep learning allow specially designed applications to not only analyze data but learn from the analysis and make predictions. Computer systems consisting of multi-core CPUs or GPUs using parallel processing and extremely fast networks are required to process the data. However, legacy storage solutions are based on architectures that are decades old, un-scalable and not well suited for the massive concurrency required by machine learning. Legacy storage is becoming a bottleneck in processing big data and a new storage technology is needed to meet data analytics performance needs.

OTS' experiences with all-flash technology mirror what many customers have experienced over the past several years. Hesitatingly optimistic, OTS deployed its first AFA in a limited environment to prove the system out, and when it performed and/or exceeded the company's expectations, it quickly started moving more workloads to it over time. Like OTS, many customers do not immediately retire their legacy storage, but in moving the more demanding workloads off of their existing environments, they provide better application performance both for those applications on the AFA and for those that stay on the legacy storage. And like OTS, the majority of AFA customers have in the past year in particular come to the conclusion that all-flash technology is the future of primary storage for performance, reliability, ease of management and expansion, and economic (as measured by total cost of ownership) reasons.
