The information explosion, the proliferation of endpoint devices, growing user volumes and new computing models like cloud, social business and big data have created new vulnerabilities. Data security is a moving target—as data grows, more sophisticated threats emerge; the number of regulations increase; and changing economic times make it difficult to secure and protect data. Because data is a critical component of daily business operations, it is essential to ensure privacy and protect data no matter where it resides. Different types of information have different protection requirements; therefore, organizations must take a holistic and systematic approach to safeguarding information.

Do Android’s dessert-named updates improve device and data security enough to work for the enterprise? Android has long ruled the consumer market. Now, the latest security advancements from Google and device manufacturers, and support for Android by leading EMM solution providers, are expanding its presence in the enterprise. To help ensure security and compliance with industry standards and government regulations, enterprises need a way to protect and manage the wide range of available devices, versions, and idiosyncrasies of the world’s most popular mobile operating system.

Data—dynamic, in demand and distributed—is challenging to secure. But you need to protect sensitive data, whether it’s stored on premises, off-site, or in big-data, private- or hybrid-cloud environments. Protecting sensitive data can take many forms, but nearly any organization needs to keep its data accessible, protect data from loss or compromise, and comply with a raft of regulations and mandates. These can include the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and the European Union (EU) General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Even in the cloud, where you may have less immediate control, you must still control your sensitive data—and compliance mandates still apply.

Fear of data misuse has led to both general and industry-specific data-privacy regulations worldwide that many organizations now must meet, and it’s important to embrace their requirements. The role of data-holding organizations has increasingly shifted to being stewards of information, in particular in the United States and the European Union (EU). And failure to comply with regulations can mean not only reputational damage, but substantial fines and even jail time. Just meeting compliance mandates, though, may not help you actively spot and stop a data breach.

Banks today are continuously challenged to meet rigorous regulatory requirements. They must implement strict governance programs that enable them to comply with a wide variety of regulations stemming from the financial crisis that began in 2007, including the DoddFrank Act, Basel Committee on Banking Supervision regulations, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Revised Payment Services Directive (PSD2) and the revised Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID2). Many of these new regulations are spurring banks to rethink how data from across the enterprise flows into the aggregated risk and capital reports required by regulatory agencies. Data must be complete, correct and consistent to maintain confidence in risk reports, capital reports and analytical analyses. At the same time, banks need ways to monetize, grant access to and generate insight from data

As security threats increase and government regulations require more control over users and data, it is important for organizations to evolve their security measures. As enterprises rapidly expand their footprints into cloud, mobile and social, they must ensure that the right users have the right access to sensitive data and applications. Strong as well as optimized identities are becoming increasingly important as insider threat and tightened regulations become more prevalent.

Data is the DNA of modern healthcare. As healthcare technology continues to evolve at a rapid pace, and patient data management and security evolve, emerging approaches for disease treatment and prevention—like precision medicine and healthcare content management—are becoming more necessary. Precision medicine is about moving from generic to more precise, population-focused diagnostics and treatment by factoring in data from patients’ genes, environment, lifestyle factors and family history, into clinical decision-making for earlier, more accurate diagnoses, and more effective treatment and prevention. Data is at the heart of enabling doctors and scientists to execute on this mission. Additionally, rapidly changing regulations throughout the world are affecting the management of all healthcare data. Infinidat removes data management barriers from this level of data interaction by removing isolated islands of storage and allowing much more data to reside on a single, high-performance, h

In the age of Edward Snowden and the NSA, there are increasing concerns about data privacy and especially where best to keep data secure. The prevalence of cloud computing and cloud-based storage and collaboration services is only exacerbating these concerns. Many organizations are confused about regulations that protect data in different countries and jurisdictions, and don’t know what steps to take to ensure their cloud collaboration vendor can provide adequate safeguards. While pushback and reform efforts are evolving, the reality is that companies must operate within the law. Deciding where to house your data and how to move it is an exercise in understanding the relevant legal regimes and the application of risk analysis in the decision making process. This white paper will examine those elements with regard to cloud-based storage and processing.

As customers demand and expect more of a digitized experience, the scale and volume of secure data that’s being transmitted across the network is increasing exponentially. At the same time, across the APAC region high digital connectivity, contrasted with low cybersecurity awareness, growing cross-border data transfers and weak regulations have made this data a global target. The growth in the “as-a-service” nature of the cybercrime marketplace is also fueling an increase in the number of traditional crime groups and individuals drawn into cyber offending. New sources of vulnerability from mobile, BYOD, CYOD, web-services and IoT devices are further broadening the cyber threat landscape with ever-more sophisticated forms of malware and DDoS attacks. Download the IDC Report to get some tips on how to stay protected against cybercrime.

The Security Operations Center (SOC) is the first line of defense against cyber attacks. They are charged with defending the business against the many new and more virulent attacks that occur all day, every day. And the pressure on the SOC is increasing. Their work is more important, as the cost of data breaches are now substantial. The Ponemon Institute’s “2017 Cost of Data Breach Study” says the average cost of an incursion is $3.62 million. The study also says larger breaches are occurring, with the average breach impacting more than 24,000 records. And with new regulations such as the EU’s General Data Protection Requirement (GDPR) putting stiff financial penalties on breaches of personal data, the cost of a breach can have material impact on the financial results of the firm. This trend toward increasingly onerous statutory demands will continue, as the U.S. is now considering the Data Privacy Act, which will bring more scrutiny and accompanying penalties for breaches involving

Businesses today are faced with the almost insurmountable task of complying with a confusing array of laws and regulations relating to data privacy and security. These can come from a variety of sources: local, state, national, and, even, international law makers. This is not just a problem for big businesses. Even a small business with a localised geographic presence may be subject to laws from other states and, possibly, other nations by virtue of having a presence on the internet. In many instances, these laws and regulations are vague and ambiguous, with little specific guidance as to compliance. Worse yet, the laws of different jurisdictions may be, and frequently are, conflicting. One state or country may require security measures that are entirely different from those of another state or country. Reconciling all of these legal obligations can be, at best, a full time job and, at worst, the subject of fines, penalties, and lawsuits.

The largest national multiline insurance had built a repository of Insurance policies (P&C and Life Insurance) on Microfilm and Microfiche in early 90’s, as a preservation strategy. They were grappling with issues as this technology became outdated over time: • Risk of losing their only source of data for Insurance policies and corresponding communication, need to improve data availability and speed of claims evaluation • Compliance issues, need of a WORM (write once read many) storage compliant with FINRA regulations, where data should be encrypted when at rest • Total cost for digitization compared to 10-12 years of support left to maintain insurance policies was not very encouraging • Required a low cost, cloud-based, FINRA-compliant document management solution which could provide quick access to stored data Download complete case study to know how LTI’s e-Office sDownload full case study to know how LTI’s e-Office solution enabled 50% TCO for Largest national Multiline Insurance.
