Web Services are emerging as the preeminent method for program-to-program communication across corporate networks as well as the Internet. Securing web Services has been a challenge until recently, as typical Web authentication and authorization techniques employed browser-to-server architectures (not program-to-program). This resulted in user identity ending at the Web Application Server, forcing the Web Services Provider to trust blindly that the Web Services Requester had established identity and trust with the end user.

Enterprises have long been battling the inherent performance limitations of Wide Area Networks (WANs) when delivering applications to remote offices. Caching emerged in the 1990’s as a potential way of addressing this problem, accelerating the performance of specific applications, such as web services, while reducing overall WAN traffic. While caching achieved reasonable success for a few short years, the market for these point products ultimately subsided as a result of several operational and functional limitations. Enterprises require an application acceleration solution that spans all types of traffic, one that is easy to manage, and 100% data coherency when supporting business-critical applications. This white paper will address these issues and offer a solution that addresses these enterprise requirements. The result is a complete solution for improved application delivery across a distributed enterprise environment.

We have entered the age of the customer where they have more choices, higher expectations, and more influence. Historically, the B2B selling process has been very fragmented with the use of highly customized and siloed applications, leading to broken channels of communication. CEB, a leading member-based advisory company, published “The Challenger Sale” in 2011 showing that that 57 percent of B2B buying steps are completed before a buyer even connects with a salesperson. With an abundance of information available on the Web and via social networks, B2B buyers today can leverage multiple sources to find out more about your products or services.

In a relatively short time, cloud computing, specifically Infrastructure-as a-Service, has shifted from a new but unproven approach to an accepted, even inevitable, model. Driven by flexibility and efficiency, the question facing most organizations is not whether the cloud is part of their infrastructure plans, but which applications and workloads to move to the cloud and when. But even as the benefits of cloud and hosted models have become apparent, concerns persist about security, and an assumption lingers that the cloud is inherently less secure than an enterprise data center environment.

While a public cloud provides an easy and scalable way to manage and deploy your app or website, you also need to have a contingency plan for business continuity and disaster recovery. Often overlooked on Amazon Web Services (AWS), an extremely effective cloud disaster recovery (DR) strategy is to spread the application stack across regions versus availability zones. This eBook provides a guide for planning and implementing a robust cross-region cloud disaster recovery (CDR) plan for business continuity and critical application uptime on AWS-based applications.

Background Businesses are often challenged with the complexities of protecting their physical, virtual, and cloud workloads while also meeting their part of the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Shared Responsibility Model. IT security leaders are inundated with too many security tools that aren’t built for their specific environments. Additionally, these responsibilities often entail large amounts of manual processes and people to administer them. As such, there is a need for a solution that provides a secure environment for you to transact your business without slowing you down. Trend Micro™ Deep Security™ is optimized to support the broadest set of platforms and environments (on-premises, virtual, on AWS, or containers) while delivering multiple threat defense techniques to help DevOps teams rapidly detect security incidents, fulfill compliance requirements, and securely deploy containers.

Description Organizations are shifting to containers for its many benefits, including increased developer productivity and an improved, modernized environment for customized applications. While Kubernetes helps organizations get the most out of those benefits, it is complex by nature and can be difficult to manage on your own. Developers need a solution that drives productivity without needing to worry about managing infrastructure. SUSE Cloud Application Platform on Amazon Web Services (AWS) provides a lean and fast platform to accelerate containerized application delivery. By leveraging a managed Kubernetes environment, SUSE makes it easier for DevOps teams to deliver applications, accelerate innovation, and improve IT responsiveness.

Today’s data, and how that data is used, have changed dramatically in the past few years. Data now comes from everywhere—not just enterprise applications, but also websites, log files, social media, sensors, web services, and more. Organizations want to make that data available to all of their analysts as quickly as possible, not limit access to only a few highly-skilled data scientists. However, these efforts are quickly frustrated by the limitations of current data warehouse technologies. These systems simply were not built to handle the diversity of today’s data and analytics. They are based on decades-old architectures designed for a different world, a world where data was limited, users of data were few, and all processing was done in on-premises data centers.

In spite of the growth of virtual business activities performed via the World Wide Web, every business transaction or operation is performed at a physical place. And as handheld GPS devices drive a growing awareness of the concept of "location," people are increasingly looking for operational efficiencies, revenue growth, or more effective management as a result of geographic data services and location-based intelligence. In this white paper, David Loshin, president of Knowledge Integrity, Inc., introduces geographic data services (such as geocoding and proximity matching) and discusses how they are employed in both operational and analytical business applications. The paper also reviews analytical techniques applied across many types of organizations and examines a number of industry-specific usage scenarios.
