In the fast moving web environment, where hackers frequently change their tactics, a defense-in-depth strategy of deploying the ProxySG in conjunction with an NGFW is essential for providing optimal protection. The ProxySG is engineered to withstand evasion techniques, making it a perfect complement to your NGFW. Its leading web-proxy technology identifies and blocks malicious web content, and its open architecture allows integration with best-of-breed products for an enhanced security posture. These top 10 advantages represent just a few of the reasons why SWG and NGFW technologies are complementary in nature and why enterprises should implement them together for a layered defense against advanced attacks and targeted threats.

There is a lot of discussion in the press about Big Data. Big Data is traditionally defined in terms of the three V’s of Volume, Velocity, and Variety. In other words, Big Data is often characterized as high-volume, streaming, and including semi-structured and unstructured formats. Healthcare organizations have produced enormous volumes of unstructured data, such as the notes by physicians and nurses in electronic medical records (EMRs). In addition, healthcare organizations produce streaming data, such as from patient monitoring devices. Now, thanks to emerging technologies such as Hadoop and streams, healthcare organizations are in a position to harness this Big Data to reduce costs and improve patient outcomes. However, this Big Data has profound implications from an Information Governance perspective. In this white paper, we discuss Big Data Governance from the standpoint of three case studies.

Data integration (DI) may be an old technology, but it is far from extinct. Today, rather than being done on a batch basis with internal data, DI has evolved to a point where it needs to be implicit in everyday business operations. Big data – of many types, and from vast sources like the Internet of Things – joins with the rapid growth of emerging technologies to extend beyond the reach of traditional data management software. To stay relevant, data integration needs to work with both indigenous and exogenous sources while operating at different latencies, from real time to streaming. This paper examines how data integration has gotten to this point, how it’s continuing to evolve and how SAS can help organizations keep their approach to DI current.

When designed well, a data lake is an effective data-driven design pattern for capturing a wide range of data types, both old and new, at large scale. By definition, a data lake is optimized for the quick ingestion of raw, detailed source data plus on-the-fly processing of such data for exploration, analytics and operations. Even so, traditional, latent data practices are possible, too. Organizations are adopting the data lake design pattern (whether on Hadoop or a relational database) because lakes provision the kind of raw data that users need for data exploration and discovery-oriented forms of advanced analytics. A data lake can also be a consolidation point for both new and traditional data, thereby enabling analytics correlations across all data. To help users prepare, this TDWI Best Practices Report defines data lake types, then discusses their emerging best practices, enabling technologies and real-world applications. The report’s survey quantifies user trends and readiness f

How can you open your analytics program to all types of programming languages and all levels of users? And how can you ensure consistency across your models and your resulting actions no matter where they initiate in the company? With today’s analytics technologies, the conversation about open analytics and commerical analytics is no longer an either/or discussion. You can now combine the benefits of SAS and open source analytics technology systems within your organization. As we think about the entire analytics life cycle, it’s important to consider data preparation, deployment, performance, scalability and governance, in addition to algorithms. Within that cycle, there’s a role for open source and commercial analytics. For example, machine learning algorithms can be developed in SAS or Python, then deployed in real-time data streams within SAS Event Stream Processing, while also integrating with open systems through Java and C APIs, RESTful web services, Apache Kafka, HDFS and more.

Artificial intelligence (AI) leads the charge in the current wave of digital transformation underway at many global companies. Organizations large and small are actively expanding their AI footprints as executives try to comprehend more fully what AI is and how they can use it to capitalize on business opportunities by gaining insight to the data they collect that enables them to engage with customers and hone a competitive edge. But, while AI may indeed be the frontier of enterprise technology, there remain many misconceptions about it. Part of the confusion stems from the fact that AI is an umbrella term that covers a range of technologies — including machine learning, computer vision, natural language processing, deep learning, and more — that are in various stages of development and deployment. The use of AI for dynamic pricing and targeted marketing has been in use for a while, but actual AI computing where machines think like humans is still many years from becoming mainstream. T

Enabling a "digital business" is becoming an increasing priority for organizations; the transition to enabling a digital interaction model inside an organization is twofold. There are technologies that underpin interactions as well as the cultural and behavioral changes that support this transition. Enterprise social networks (ESNs), and more broadly, social workflow, can play a significant role in this particularly when thought of as both a platform and a social workflow embedded in business systems where users are getting work done. This study identifies several key areas of market opportunity and provides criteria by which vendors can be judged now and over the next 5 years.

Account-based marketing (ABM) has recently become a popular term among business-to-business (B2B) marketers. ABM refers to a marketing practice where efforts focus on a predetermined set of customers who meet certain criteria. A set of customers can be narrowly defined and specific—like CIOs, or decision makers at Fortune 100 companies. It also can be more fluid and based on a set of parameters—like marketing directors at financial institutions or technology companies. At its core, ABM combines long-standing marketing best practices with new technologies. It allows marketers to target the right prospects with personalized marketing messages and then automate their entire customer acquisition process

There is an impression today that Information Lifecycle Management is a new concept. Management of the information lifecycle has been with us since the dawn of the computer age. While recent legislation and shifts in media cost have spawned a mini-boom in replication start-ups and new storage technologies, the fundamentals of information management have not changed.
